Throwback Thursdays // Fair Isle Motifs

Welcome to another fun version of Papertrey Ink’s Throwback Thursdays! Today we are revisiting the Fair Isle Motifs stamp set.

I really wanted to use light airy colors so I decided on a combination of Ocean Tides, Aqua Mist, and Lemon Tart. By starting with a center point and stamping equally 4 times around each “corner” you create a fun pattern with a central focal point.

Since my pattern colors are subdued, I went with a big bold sentiment in the center. The card is finished off with a thin bit of natural twine.

Thank you so much for joining me today! Do you have this set? What have you created with it lately??

Papertrey Ink // Quoted: A Little Bit More

Helloooooo! Today I have a card for you that focuses on the newest Quoted set: A Little Bit More. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this quote, it’s from the end of The Grinch by Dr. Suess. (Lots of Jim Carrey flashbacks are happening in my mind right now.)

So I decided to show you a way to use only half of the sentiment on a clean and simple card. To add subtle interest I stamped “joyeux noel” repeatedly in Aqua Mist on a diagonal along with some Ocean Tides dotted lines (which are from the Quoted set). This gave the perfect backdrop for our big bold sentiment.

And finally for a little added Suess-iness… I made a funny little Whoville looking flower from one of the items in the Wonderland Trimmings Kit. I love that it kept the colors light but still gave the card some quirk. 🙂

Thanks again for stopping by! I will see you back here again tomorrow for *double* the fun. 🙂

Papertrey Ink // Ways To Say: Christmas

Allllll right ya’ll!!! Did you catch last night’s Release Party Live?? Did you place your order? Are you ready for even MORE inspiration on how to use your new goodies?! Well let’s get to it then!

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Ways To Say Christmas Wonderland

Do you ever have a sentiment set where you think “I just want to use them all!” Well that’s sort of what happened here. 🙂 I REALLY wanted to stamp out “tis the season” “peace on earth” and “christmas wishes” so I thought by adding the larger “merry christmas” at the bottom it would be a fun sentiment all together!!

I used pattern papers from the Wonderland Kit as well as some of the Big Bitty Pure Poppy cardstock for the background. Since that added a ton of interest in itself, I chose to keep the embellishments to a minimum.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Catch us all week long with more inspiration from this month’s release for you all!

Papertrey Featured Post // Year of Psalms: October

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink year of psalms PTI Christmas Wonderland Kit

And just like that it’s Papertrey release week again!! First off, a huge thank you to Julie, Lizzie, and everyone who joined us for the very first Release Party Live! Event when launching Betsy’s latest Make It Market Kit. It was such a blast!!

Second, I wanted to let you all know that I have been crazy sick on and off for like 3 weeks and now I’m fighting a sinus infection, so if you’ve been wondering why I’ve been so quiet on the platforms, I am just trying to get my family through each day right now haha. I’ll be back in good shape soon though I’m sure!

Alrighty!! Onto the fun! I am pleased to be able to showcase the latest Year of Psalms set with you today and this first card may be my ultimate fave.

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink year of psalms PTI Christmas Wonderland Kit

I obviously went for a very clean and simple vibe and I honestly couldn’t be happier with it. The twine wrapped around the holly adds some earthiness and the holly itself is the perfect pop of color.

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink year of psalms PTI Christmas Wonderland Kit

I decided to only use part of the sentiment because I thought it worked perfectly by itself and helped add to the simplistic design.

My next card is super simple as well as a perfectly flat card!

I used the tree from the newest Traveler’s Journal: December set to create the large tree by spritzing the stamp with water before pressing directly onto watercolor paper. Let those water bubbles work for you! As they dry, you get a beautiful texture.

For my last card I put together a much less simple design. I wanted the tag to act as a faux present feel and I think the Folded Tag Die gave it the perfect amount of movement.

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink year of psalms PTI Christmas Wonderland Kit

The sentiments are split up so the first one is the focal point and the second one makes the perfect background texture by repeatedly stamping in a soft, subtle color.

So that’s all for me today! Thank you SO much for stopping by and I can’t wait to see you soon! *wink wink*

Papertrey Ink Design Team Tips

Unique Holiday Gift Wrapping

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog for another Design Team Tips with Papertrey Ink. I was having such a great time getting into the holiday spirit during this month’s release that I just HAD to keep up with the festivities!! So today I am going to show you a few unique ways to wrap a gift by using fun tags, a special embellishment, and even a fun little paper piece to add tons of texture. 😉 Let’s dive in!

Monogram Tags

My first idea came by Christmas-ing the Botanical Letters stamps and dies to make the flowers look a bit like holly. I love putting initials on tags at our home since we all have different first letters, but if you have lots of one letter, try using a smaller alpha stamp and putting full initials. It’s a fun alternative to the standard “to/from” stickers from the wrapping store! 🙂

I dressed this tag up with a lot of texture by putting the letter on top of a circle cut from kraft corrugated cardstock, and then tied it up with a Big Bitty Berry Wreath Tag. And of course to finish it off, a doily folded in almost-half to add even more movement and fun.

Unexpected Embellishments

For my second idea, I used something we all have just laying around the house… a woodland creature figurine. Just kidding. But they do have some on amazon!! 🙂 And they are soooo cute too!! You could leave them as is for a fun rustic/nature look, or to give them some spice, do what I did and spray paint them with metallic gold! These are super fun and kids especially will love playing with them after opening their gifts. (And you can set them out as reindeer decor!)

The tag is made from the Simply Chartreuse Big Bitty pattern paper set and the Beautiful Berries: Winter stamps and dies. The tag and the “to/from” cutout are made from the Holiday Tag Along Mini Kit by Betsy Veldman.

Holiday Fringe & a Vintage Touch

Ok now bear with me on this one… holiday FRINGE!! I am obsessed… this may be a love it or hate it idea but I am all over it right now haha. I used Big Bitty Pure Poppy, Big Bitty Simply Chartreuse, and True Black Cardstock. Now in the past to make fringe I sit down for about 20 minutes and I tediously slice the paper over and over… but my life has officially been changed!! I was introduced to the American Crafts Fringe Scissors (there are most likely many types of these scissors out there) and this whole piece took 3 minutes tops! Each stripe is about 4 x 1.5 inches and I scored the top of each of them to give the fringe a bit more oomph. I used 0.25 in scor tape to layer these down on a piece of scrap cardstock and then I had my very own fringe paper!

To give this gift a vintage touch, I added a torn out piece of an old book in the background, used natural twine to wrap it all, and placed a lone feather in the mix just for fun. I love mixing old and new, especially on gift wrapping.
