by stephanie gold for papertrey ink Winter Fox + Text & Texture: Wood Slices + Sending You Comfort + Hinged Gift Card Box: Christmas Window

Starting out with Winter Fox by Heather Nichols and Text and Texture: Wood Slices by Betsy Veldman! This little fox is so. dang. cute. I was so excited to work with him! I blended a couple different colors together to get the red I really wanted for his fur and I love how he turned out.

I chose to create the wood slices in Soft Stone on Soft Stone for a really subtle texture in the back. It’s a little more prominent in person but still very soft. 🙂 And those greys… Weathervane ya’ll!

Next up is an interesting combination of a brand new sympathy stamp set called Sending You Comfort by Kimberly Crawford… and a new window die for the previously released Hinged Gift Card Box called Christmas Window, by Lizzie Jones.

I decided to create a card with these combos and I’m showcasing the “So Very Merry” sentiment die from Lizzie’s set. The other die says “From Santa” and is SO CUTE!!! You will love both of these. They will look adorable on tags too!!! Not just cards and gift boxes! So definitely don’t write this one off if you don’t have the coordinating box die yet.

Kit N Caboodle + Shape Shifters Square 2 + Sentiment Staples Thinking of You

Hey all! Do we have a treat for you today! Lizzie Jones has and ADORABLE new set called Kit N Caboodle and it. is. darling.

I created a purely clean and simple card for this set and I tried to make the kitty peeking out look just like mine. I have a kitten named Gypsy and she’s a torti so I mixed blacks, browns, and tans to create the color.

Here’s a picture of my kitty for you guys. 🙂 I made a scrapbook page about her a while ago haha. I love her.

We also have a new Sentiment Staples and a new Shape Shifters for you today!

I used the Shape Shifters square die to cut 4 times right next to each other and then turned it on it’s side to make a diamond. I layered it over top of some of the new Bitty Big Berry Sorbet and used some black paint splatters to compliment the sentiment.

Words to Live By: Laugh + How Are You Today

Welcome back to another day of an awesome Papertrey Ink release week! Today I am showcasing the latest from the Words To Live By series… Laugh… as well as a brand new set from Rebecca Luminarias called How Are You Today?

by stephanie gold for papertrey ink how are you today words to live by laugh betsy veldman rebecca luminarias

I first created a background using a tone on tone of Autumn Rose flowers with the outlines in black. I used coordinating cardstock colors from the (SUPER high quality, if you haven’t tried it yet) Perfect Match collection.

And how CUTE is that sentiment?!! I LOVE it!!! The flower in this set is so darling and there are actually a lot of different pairings you can use to make a whole bunch of different flowers.

For the inside of my card I played off the front sentiment and used the “you make me laugh” from the Words to Live By set.

I tied in the Tropical Teal on the seahorses with a strip from the newest Bitty Big pattern papers, and brought out the black in the sentiment by adding black paint splatters.

Tips for New Card Makers + Simple Impressions Kit by Betsy Veldman

Helloooooooooo!!!!! Are you ready to make some friends into new stampers?? Well get ready for the ultimate gift for a newbie card maker! Betsy has put together the essentials for anyone who is interested in learning to make cards and she did it in typical Betsy fashion… beautifully.

But not only did Bets put together a kit, she is also making the stamp set available for purchase separately AND you can buy a coordinating die set separately as well.

Let’s dive into the projects already!

My first card is showing off how you can use just the stamps and the dies if you don’t get the full kit. I created a little rainbow of candles alongside the right edge and accented them with some popped up balloons. 🙂

Some black and white twine is the perfect way to tie in the black from the sentiment.

And now for a fun way to use the kit contents!

I put together two variations of the same card to show you how you can easily take what you made using this beginner’s kit, and move it into different products you either have already, or may be interested in buying.

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Betsy Veldman Simple Impressions Kit

This first card is nothing but kit. I stamped the flowers out using colors you receive with the kit, placed them on top of one of the pattern papers, and accented the card with some included sequins. Beautiful right? And so simple! (If there are uber beginners out there who would like a step by step for this card, let me know!)

So now that you have made a beautiful card that you are proud of (and should be!!), make it again! But switch just a couple details up. You already have the confidence to make a card you know is attractive, so try some different colors! Try a pattern paper instead of a solid. Add in a piece of colored cardstock like this gorgeous new grey (DID YOU SEE THE NAME ANNOUNCEMENT YET?! I’m obsessed…).

By taking one design that you already know works and changing it up ever so slightly here and there, you will get a ton of practice creating. You will begin mastering stamping a bit and gain even more confidence in your abilities. Once you are satisfied, move on to another design and do it again! Not only will you be a pro card maker in no time, but you will also have a nice stash of cards on hand to reach for when you need one. 🙂

All new products will be available on the Papertrey Ink web site at 10PM Eastern on April 15th. Happy shopping!
