Throwback Thursday // Mehndi Medallion

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Mehndi Medallion Grans Garden You Deserve Flowers Sentiments

Hey there friends and welcome to this week’s Throwback Thursday with Papertrey Ink! Today we are revisiting the Mehndi Medallion stamp set.

For me, anytime I see Mehndi art, I am instantly reminded of Henna tattoo art and Henna trees (which the Henna tattoo stain comes from)… so basically my mind quickly jumps to nature haha.

Henna Tree

With that in mind, I wanted to put some leaves reminiscent of Henna tree leaves on my card today.

I started by creating my focal point with the largest Mehndi stamp in Harvest Gold and accenting the circular pattern with stamped leaves in Green Parakeet and Limeade Ice.

To balance the darkness from the sentiment I added some black paint splatters and True Black twine but overall kept my design pretty simple.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I will see you again soon!

Transformation Tuesday // Papertrey Ink

Hello friends and welcome to a fun Transformation Tuesday with Papertrey Ink! If you aren’t quite familiar with this new feature, we are basically taking a card we’ve made in the past that we haven’t been 100% happy with, and showing you how we are re-creating it to be something we love!

Today I am working with this card from last year’s Papertrey releases:

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Beautiful Berries

Now although I don’t hate this card, it just felt like it was missing my style a bit. I have this weird thing where I like what I make to really feel like *me* and this card just felt a little bit off.

To get started, I went through what I really liked about this card… 1) color scheme, 2) twine, 3) the cutout concept. So with these things in mind and being used as my inspiration, I created a new card.

A couple of the things I really wanted to change about this card were the kraft cardstock, and the notched corners. For some reason, I just wasn’t vibing with them haha. I decided to go with a more clean cut card that felt a little bit more Clean and Simple.

I kept my color scheme basically the same but switched out the Raspberry Fizz for Berry Sorbet. And instead of using the coordinating dies for the cutout concept, I went with one of the Scalloped Tag Dies instead to create a focal point more around my sentiment.

And finally, to keep those clean lined edges, I used a Berry Sorbet card base as opposed to having an extra layer on the top of my card.

Is there a card in your stash you think could benefit from a little transformation?? Don’t wait until next Tuesday, give it a shot now and be sure to enter the contest on the Papertrey Blog for a chance to win a gift certificate to the store. 🙂

That’s it for me today! I can’t wait to see your newest creations! Much love all.

Tips for New Card Makers + Simple Impressions Kit by Betsy Veldman

Helloooooooooo!!!!! Are you ready to make some friends into new stampers?? Well get ready for the ultimate gift for a newbie card maker! Betsy has put together the essentials for anyone who is interested in learning to make cards and she did it in typical Betsy fashion… beautifully.

But not only did Bets put together a kit, she is also making the stamp set available for purchase separately AND you can buy a coordinating die set separately as well.

Let’s dive into the projects already!

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Betsy Veldman Simple Impressions Kit

My first card is showing off how you can use just the stamps and the dies if you don’t get the full kit. I created a little rainbow of candles alongside the right edge and accented them with some popped up balloons. 🙂

Some black and white twine is the perfect way to tie in the black from the sentiment.

And now for a fun way to use the kit contents!

I put together two variations of the same card to show you how you can easily take what you made using this beginner’s kit, and move it into different products you either have already, or may be interested in buying.

This first card is nothing but kit. I stamped the flowers out using colors you receive with the kit, placed them on top of one of the pattern papers, and accented the card with some included sequins. Beautiful right? And so simple! (If there are uber beginners out there who would like a step by step for this card, let me know!)

So now that you have made a beautiful card that you are proud of (and should be!!), make it again! But switch just a couple details up. You already have the confidence to make a card you know is attractive, so try some different colors! Try a pattern paper instead of a solid. Add in a piece of colored cardstock like this gorgeous new grey (DID YOU SEE THE NAME ANNOUNCEMENT YET?! I’m obsessed…).

By taking one design that you already know works and changing it up ever so slightly here and there, you will get a ton of practice creating. You will begin mastering stamping a bit and gain even more confidence in your abilities. Once you are satisfied, move on to another design and do it again! Not only will you be a pro card maker in no time, but you will also have a nice stash of cards on hand to reach for when you need one. 🙂

All new products will be available on the Papertrey Ink web site at 10PM Eastern on April 15th. Happy shopping!

Dapper Chap + Shape Up Tuxedo + Corner Adorner April + Words to Live by + Shape Shifters Square

***I wanted to thank you all for your patience today… it seems our internet is going bonkers and it’s been a challenge to get this post working! Hoping you are all having a beautiful Friday!***

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Shape Up Tuxedo Dapper Chap

What genius idea… am I right?! Lizzie is at it again with her brilliant gift card dies and today’s has taken the cake!

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Shape Up Tuxedo Dapper Chap

This quite clever set of dies gives you so many options to put together a gorgeous suit for the man in your life and you can even slip a gift card inside! I chose to put this outfit on the front of a card for my project today but I am a little obsessed with this set.

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Shape Up Tuxedo Dapper Chap

Don’t be scared off if it looks complicated!! Lizzie put together a wonderful video that you can use to follow along when you put this guy together for the first time (because it’s honestly simpler than it looks and you probably won’t need to watch the video more than once). And of course the Dapper Chap stamp and die set coordinate perfectly. I’m loving the “nicely done, sir” sentiment. 🙂

by Stephanie Gold for Papertrey Ink Corner Adorner April Shape Shifters Square Words to Live By Work

For the latest Corner Adorner set we have a more artsy design for you this month. Create artisticly impressive card designs in a snap! I chose to go with a super watercolor and carefree feel with mine and used the negatives from the Shape Shifters Square die to add just a bit of unexpected fun to the bottom.

This card design will undoubtedly not be everyone’s cup of tea but it may be one of my favorites from this release haha. (Check out artist Lourdes Sanchez if you’re a fan of abstract watercolor art)

Tomorrow is the last release countdown day and you WON’T want to miss it! (New grey color name announcement… hint hint…)
