Stretch Your Stamps: Florals

Hey friends! Thank you so much for joining me today for another Design Team Tips with Papertrey Ink. Today I am focusing on how to get the most of your stamps and I will be specifically working with florals. I have a few techniques for you that I use time and again for unique looks on projects, in addition to simply getting more usage out of my favorite type of stamp… those gorgeous flower stamps. Let’s get started!

Embellish Your Envelopes

Stamping on your envelopes is SUCH an easy way to dress your cards up even more and impress the recipient. You can stamp in one corner, all over the entire thing, or even just on one side. Above you see two examples of envelopes that I stamped. These are purchased envelopes that I have on hand in a box so adding a little something extra to them was super easy. After stamping all over the pink envelope, I adhered a large die cut over top where I can add my address in. In the kraft envelope I only stamped a portion of it and then added a small address sticker.

Slice your die cuts

Another more unconventional way to use your floral stamps is to simply slice up them up when they are die cuts. Below you see The pink flowers have been stamped and die cut out, then cut in half and placed on my card. This gives a card a completely unique look. Also…

Stamp a pattern on top of them

Above you see that in addition to slicing my pink florals, I also stamped them with polka dots. You can use any pattern at all when doing this; stripes, chevron, squigly lines, etc. and it adds so much fun and whimsy to your card. To add even more fun to them…

Give them unique centers

…such as these staples! Many people already use items like gem stones, enamel dots, etc… but what if you used something completely different? How about using eyelets? Or even something that’s not even round like a star? Any of these will set your flowers apart from the typical ones you stamp.

Stamp a background

Create an entire piece of customized pattern paper using your floral stamps. This is one of my favorite things to do. You can use any size stamp you’d like; you can make them nice and spaced apart or grouped together; you can create little clusters or just stamp the whole thing.

In the above card I stamped many floral images and then layered a few die cut pieces over them. My sentiment is on a piece of vellum so the florals still poke through.

Great ideas with the flowers being stamped with additional background stamps. I love to stamp my envelopes and blend the postage stamp in with everything else. I also love to send my cards in clear envelopes to brighten the postal workers day. We do all this work and then hide it. Thanks for the creative ideas.
